The speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko said that the President of Russia sent an appeal on the use of the Russian army abroad. According to her, the committees of the upper house considered Vladimir Putin’s appeal on the use of the Russian Armed Forces outside the country, the senators will consider this issue in an open mode. The appeal was made on the basis of an agreement on friendship and cooperation with the DPR and LPR.
Yesterday, February 21, Vladimir Putin signed agreements on friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance between Russia and the DPR and LPR, according to which the parties will be able to use military infrastructure and military bases on each other’s territories. Today, February 22, the State Duma and the Federation Council ratified the documents.
The heads of the DPR and LPR yesterday turned to Vladimir Putin with a request to recognize the independence of the self-proclaimed republics, and also asked for military and material assistance due to the escalation of the situation in the region. The DPR and LPR claim that Ukrainian troops are committing provocations against them, in Kiev this information is denied.
