Tangier-Assilah: Focus on the achievements of the INDH in maternal and child health

This meeting was an opportunity to highlight the achievements of the INDH in the area of ​​maternal and child health and nutrition, particularly during the “first 1000 days of a child’s life”.

Speaking on this occasion, the Wali of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, governor of the Tangier-Assilah prefecture, Younes Tazi, stressed that this celebration is an opportunity to recall the principles and objectives of this royal project, founder of social policy in Morocco, noting that many achievements with a strong impact on citizens have emerged thanks to the active mobilization of all stakeholders in favor of INDH projects.

He also noted that this celebration provides an opportunity to take stock of the achievements made and anticipate the next phase, calling for the need to pool efforts to strengthen maternal and child health, as well as create an environment conducive to the healthy growth of children.

For his part, the acting head of the Social Action Division (DAS) of the prefecture of Tangier-Assilah, Ismael Moutaouakil, gave a presentation on the results of the third phase of the INDH (2019-2023), in which he stressed that around 1,000 projects were carried out between 2019 and 2023, with a budget of 275 million dirhams (MDH), including 230 MDH as a contribution from the INDH.

Regarding the 4th program of phase III of the Initiative relating to the boosting of human capital of rising generations, Mr. Moutaouakil noted that 161 projects have been carried out, with a contribution from the INDH amounting to 73.13 MDH, notably concerning the equipment of Dar al Oumouma in the commune of Had El Gharbia, the acquisition of medical and paramedical equipment for the benefit of health centers, the realization of more than 24 communication campaigns benefiting more than 1,680 women (pregnancy monitoring, breastfeeding, balanced diet, etc.), and the organization of a multidisciplinary medical caravan benefiting 700 people.

For his part, the provincial delegate of Health and Social Protection in Tangier-Assilah, Said Bouda, gave a presentation on the “first 1000 days of a child’s life”, stressing the crucial importance of breastfeeding, a balanced diet and health care for the development of the human capital of rising generations.

The ceremony was also an opportunity to announce the launch of a program (from May 18 to June 18) including communication campaigns aimed at improving the health of children during the first 1,000 days, including by strengthening nutrition and health care for mothers before and after childbirth, promoting breastfeeding and improving complementary feeding practices.

It was also punctuated by the screening of two institutional films, highlighting several awareness campaigns carried out in rural areas in the field of maternal and child health, as well as the services provided by Dar Al Oumouma in the commune of Had El Gharbia, which was the subject of a field visit on this occasion.
