This meeting, which was attended by the president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), Fouzi Lekjaa, and the Wali of the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region, governor of the Rabat prefecture, Mohamed Yacoubi, brought together the various stakeholders involved in these preparations.

Speaking on this occasion, Mr. Laftit stressed the importance of mobilizing everyone to ensure the success of the organization of the 2030 Football World Cup in Morocco, as well as the sporting events that the Kingdom will host before this global event, in particular the African Cup of Nations (CAN Morocco-2025).

In this regard, he called on the relevant stakeholders to redouble their efforts and mobilize all the necessary financial and human resources to accelerate the pace of preparations, noting the importance of the success of the next stage, namely the CAN Morocco-2025, in order to strengthen confidence to move forward in the process of preparations to host other sporting events and events.

Mr. Laftit also noted Rabat’s central role as the capital of the Kingdom and host city of many events well before the 2030 World Cup, stressing the imperative for the city to be ready as early as next year.

For his part, Mr. Lekjaa affirmed that the development trajectory initiated by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, over the last 25 years across the Kingdom, will make Morocco a privileged destination for the organization of exceptional events, continental or global, in particular the CAN 2025.

In a statement to the press after the meeting, he stressed the centrality of the city of Rabat for the 2030 World Cup, especially since it will host the matches of the CAN Morocco-2025, including the matches of the national football team.

Also, the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex, which will be ready before the end of this year with a capacity of 65,000 spectators, will be one of the stadiums qualified to host the semi-finals of the World Cup, he added, the objective being for the Kingdom of Morocco to organize an “exceptional World Cup”.

This meeting was marked by interventions and presentations from the various stakeholders involved in the organization of the 2030 World Cup as well as the sporting events that precede it, highlighting the development and infrastructure projects aimed at enabling Moroccan cities, including Rabat, to be in line with FIFA’s requirements and standards, particularly in terms of infrastructure relating to stadiums and training sites, transport and mobility, accommodation and sustainable development.

Furthermore, the presentation of integrated management mechanisms for the projects planned as part of these preparations was carried out with a view to strengthening the monitoring, control and implementation of the projects within the allotted time.

This meeting comes two months after an expanded meeting was held in Rabat as part of the intense preparations for hosting the 2030 World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal. A similar meeting was also held on Tuesday in Fez and Wednesday in Casablanca.
