This year also there is a similar delay. Yes, the Railway Board has written a letter to all the railway zones informing them that the new time table is not being implemented on July 1 this year. The time table that is currently in effect has been extended till December 31.

When is Train at a Glance released?

There is a tradition in the railways to release a new time table. The all India time table released at the level of the Railway Board is known as Trains at a Glance. It contains the timetable of only mail and express trains. Along with this, time tables are also published at the zonal level. It also contains the timetable of passenger and local trains. Usually it becomes effective from July 1 every year. This year it is not happening.

There is no new time table this year

According to a PTI report, the Railway Board is not releasing a new time table this year. Actually, at this time the board is reviewing the timings and operational status of the trains. The Railway Ministry wants to make it more efficient, so the release date of the new time table has been extended to January 1, 2025. The old time table will remain in force till the new time table is released. For this, the Railway Board issued a circular to all the General Managers of 17 zones on June 27, 2024 itself and asked them to extend the existing time table till December 31, 2024.

The time table of the zonal railways will also remain the same
After the board issued a letter, North Central Railway also issued a letter on June 28. It said that Train at a Glance 2024 will now be applicable from 01 January 2025. Therefore, now the validity of the existing working time table of PRYJ (Prayagraj), JHS (Jhansi) and AGC (Agra Cantt) is also extended till 31 December 2024. In this light, now the new time table will be applicable from 01 January 2025. A similar circular has also been issued by North Western Railway. In this circular, DRMs of all four divisions, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Jaipur and Ajmer have been asked to work according to the existing time table.
