UAB “Rimi Lietuva” informs that from July 3rd to July 17th, removal of potentially unsafe food from the market and recovery from consumers is urgently being carried out.

The chain reports that the name of the potentially unsafe food is: Thomy American Style BBQ Sauce with Roasted Sugar Syrup, 348g EAN 8445290633583.

The expiration date of this product is until 2025. April or May The product is distributed and imported by Nestle Baltics UAB.

It is also indicated that the reason for the removal of potentially unsafe food from the market: gluten was detected in the raw materials (onion powder) during preventive actions.

He is asking to return the buckwheat as well

UAB “Rimi Lietuva” also informs that until July 5 removal from the market and recovery from consumers of potentially unsafe organic buckwheat groats “Biorina”, 500g, is also underway.

According to the retail chain, the reason for removing potentially unsafe food from the market is the determined level of the pesticide glyphosate residue, which minimally exceeds the permissible limit.

After it became clear that “Rimi Lietuva” is also removing potentially unsafe organic 500 g buckwheat groats “Biorina” from the market, the company itself reacted to the spread information.

“The amount of glyphosate found in our products minimally exceeds the requirements for organic products. However, this quantity does not exceed the norms established by the EU for non-organic products and meets all safety standards and does not pose any danger to human or animal health and can be used for food. Responding to the information of the State Food and Veterinary Service, we urgently additionally examined the specified batch, the results of the investigation refuted the information about the exceeded norm. This case is further investigated by VšĮ “Ekoagros”. The process may take some time to confirm or deny this information.”
