One of his sons said that the victim went to park his car near the stadium when he was attacked by a mob.
This Wednesday night, Colo Colo faced Universitario de Lima in a friendly duel, which was marred by the death of a white fan near the Monumental Stadium.
The incident, which occurred just before the match, led members of the Garra Blanca to attack the Peruvian fans with fireworks, forcing the match to be suspended.
The fan was identified as Claudio Maldonado Gamboa, 40 years old, who was the father of five children and lived in La Pintana.
The victim had attended the Colo Colo match with two of his children to celebrate the birthday of one of them, being attacked by supporters of the Peruvian team after parking his vehicle on Mirador Azul Street.
Maldonado’s family described him as a fan of the white team who regularly attended the stadium and who never got involved in acts of violence.
“My nephew was there for his birthday. My brother took him to the stadium, his two children. He left them at the entrance of the stadium and my brother said to them: ‘I’m going to park the car.’ He went to park the car and never came back.”his brother told Chilevisión.
His son Sebastián told T13 that his father was going to park his car and they would meet again to enter the stadium, pointing out that “he had talked to my dad about going to the stadium.”
“Later, when my dad stopped answering, some videos appeared on the internet in which a fan had been killed and we didn’t understand that it was him. My dad was beaten, stabbed and riddled with bullets just for parking his car and arriving wearing Colo Colo clothes,” lamented Sebastián Maldonado.
The body of Colo Colo fan Claudio Maldonado remains in the Legal Medical Service (SML) awaiting delivery to his family.
