(ANSA) – ROME, JULY 4 – “For the first time in history, the Italian government that held the presidency of this year’s G7 has included a paragraph on inclusion and disability in the leaders’ final document. October 14 will be a truly historic event, important for sending a signal of peace in the square of Assisi where everyone is invited to participate and this is also a method that is being used for the first time in history. We want to demonstrate that Italy is a country that is driving change with the disability reform that aims to enhance potential and not look at the limits in people”. This was stated by the Minister for Disabilities Alessandra Locatelli at question time in the Senate.
“I expect from the G7 inclusion and disability of 15 and 16 October in Solfagnano concrete commitments that look to the future – he added – to artificial intelligence for example or to the safety of people with disabilities in times of humanitarian emergency, in climate crises or perhaps even in conflicts. We really need a shared strategy on historical issues but also on issues that are current and very innovative. On 15 October we will show 5 panels where we will bring eight priorities to attention while on 16 October the ministers will sign the Solfagnano Charter with concrete commitments to try to renew our country together with other countries so as to have a stronger voice that puts the person at the center”.
