He Mexico City Government exhausts legal remedies against the orders of the Transparency Institute to make public information regarding contaminated water in the Benito Juarez mayor’s office.

This was pointed out by the Head of Government, Martí Batresduring a conference at the presentation of hydraulic infrastructure works in the country’s capital.

The capital’s leader confirmed that the Mexico City Water System (Sacmex) and the Ministry of Health (Deadly) local were notified about the court order to deliver the information regarding the case in the Benito Juarez.

“Indeed, there is a notification, but they also had certain deadlines still, that is, there are certain procedures that have been carried out regarding the legal instruments that the city ​​government“, he declared.

After Batres announced that information on the contaminant would be reserved until 2027, the Institute for Transparency, Access to Public Information, Protection of Personal Data and Accountability of Mexico City (Info CDMX) issued a resolution stipulating that Sacmex must make public the results of the analysis.

Asked about the authorities’ response to the order, the head of government said: “We have resources, so we have received these notifications and we have received requests, all of which have been answered in accordance with the law (…) we also have legal means and we always act within the framework of the law… and we have already responded.”

However, despite the promise to report the resultsthe capital authorities remain unclear as to what substance contaminated the water and how it reached the well that supplies the area of ​​the mayor’s office.

BUDGET INJECTED FOR HYDRAULIC WORKS

The capital government allocated 887 million pesos to 42 waterworks for water supply in the capitalfrom November 2023 to date.

Batres explained that 19 of the works are located in the systems of Lerma and Chiconautla, in the Mexico state, which benefit the capital by allowing the arrival of the vital liquid.
He indicated the rehabilitation of Cherokee Drinking Water Pumpingin Coyoacán and the Quetzalcóatl Pumping Plant, in Tlahuac.
