Jaipur: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader and cabinet minister in Bhajan Lal government, Dr. Kirori Lal Meena has once again created a stir in the BJP. Taking responsibility for the defeat of party candidates in eastern Rajasthan in the Lok Sabha elections, Dr. Kirori Lal Meena has resigned from the post of minister. This is not the first time that Dr. Meena has created a stir in the BJP. Earlier also, he had left the party due to his relations with Vasundhara Raje. Kirori Lal Meena had a bitter rift with Vasundhara Raje and left the party
Dr. Kirodi Lal Meena has been in politics since his student days. He was elected MLA from Mahuva assembly seat for the first time in the year 1985. In 1998, he won the election from Bamanwas assembly seat. In the 2003 elections, he won the election from Sawai Madhopur and was also a cabinet minister during Vasundhara Raje’s tenure. He was a minister from 2003 to 2008. During this time, his relations with Vasundhara Raje soured. In such a situation, Dr. Meena left the BJP and in the next assembly elections i.e. in the 2008 elections, he became an independent MLA from Todabhim assembly seat. Before the 2013 assembly elections, he joined PA Sangma’s party and fielded 150 candidates. He also won four seats. After staying out of the party for 10 years, he returned to BJP in 2018.

Dr. Meena had supported the Gehlot government
In the 2008 assembly elections, Dr. Kirori Lal Meena was elected as an independent MLA from Todabhim assembly constituency and his wife Golma Devi from Mahua assembly seat. In those days, the Congress government was formed in Rajasthan and Ashok Gehlot became the Chief Minister. Independent MLA Dr. Kirori Lal Meena and his wife Golma Devi supported the Gehlot government. The then Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot gave Golma Devi a place in his cabinet and she was made the Minister of State for Khadi and Village Industries. However, Golma Devi left the ministerial post after a few months.
He also won 4 seats in the election contested through NPP
In the 2013 assembly elections, Dr. Kirori Lal Meena joined PM Sangma’s party National People’s Party. NPP fielded a total of 150 candidates out of which four candidates won. Naveen Pilaniya from Amer assembly seat, Golma Devi from Rajgarh Laxmangarh, Geeta Verma from Sikrai and Dr. Kirori Lal Meena himself from Lalsot seat became MLAs. In those days, i.e. from 2013 to 2018, there was a BJP government in the state and Vasundhara Raje was the Chief Minister.
