The DMK and its allies have won a majority of seats in the Delta districts in the Tamil Nadu urban local body elections. DMK has taken over 4 corporations in the region. The DMK has won all but one of the municipalities.
Out of 21 corporations in Tamil Nadu, 138 municipalities and 489 municipalities went to the polls on February 19 for the urban local body elections. The ballots were counted on February 22. In this, we can see which party has won the most in 9 districts namely Trichy, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Pudukottai, Karur, Ariyalur and Perambalur.
What is the situation in Trichy?
Trichy district has 1 corporation, 5 municipalities and 14 municipalities. Out of 65 wards in Trichy, DMK has won 49, Congress 5, AIADMK 3, Madhyamaka 2, Communist Party of India 1, Marxist Communist 1, AIADMK 1, Vizika 1 and Independents 2 seats. DMK has won as a single party.
This is the first time in 25 years that the DMK has held the post of mayor of Trichy. The party’s mayoral secretary, former deputy mayor Anbalagan, is also expected to be elected mayor.
The DMK has won a majority in all the 14 municipalities in the district. The DMK has captured 4 municipalities namely Tuvakkudi, Thuraiyur, Lalgudi and Musiri with a majority. Sneha, 22, an independent candidate from the 5th ward of Tuvakkudi municipality, won with 495 votes.
He is a student of a private engineering college. His father is in DMK. Since the ward was allotted to the Coalition Party, he has succeeded in fielding his daughter independently. Marxist Communist Party candidate Maheshwari, who contested in the DMK alliance, got 81 votes.
Manapparai Municipal SueChSyllables Support for DMK
Out of the total 27 wards in Manapparai municipality, AIADMK-11, DMK-8, Independents-5, Congress. -1, E.Communist-2 have won in wards. The AIADMK-DMK alliance has won 11 wards each and is on an equal footing. The party, which receives the support of independents, has a leader and vice-president. Five of the winning independent candidates have met DMK Principal Secretary and Urban Development Minister KN Nehru and expressed support for the DMK. Following this the Manapparai municipality has also come under the control of the DMK.
Also, in Manapparai municipality, T. Thangamani, who contested in the 19th ward on behalf of the Communist Party of India, and his wife Manonmani Thangamani, who contested in the 20th ward, won. Manapparai was formed as a town hall in 1966. Subsequently, in the 1969 city council elections, V. Perumal of the Communist Party and his wife Rajam, Subbulakshmi, contested and won. Were a member of the City Council several times following. Since then, Thangamani and Manonmani have won as husband and wife.

DMK has captured Thanjavur and Kumbakonam corporations in Thanjavur district. Out of a total of 51 wards in Thanjavur, DMK 36, AIADMK 7, Congress 2, Independents 3, BJP, AIADMK and Marxist Communist Party each won one seat.
DMK candidate Anjugam Bhupathi has won the 51st ward after collecting votes during her full month pregnancy. She gave birth to a baby boy last week.
The DMK has taken over Kumbakonam Corporation, which was upgraded to a corporation and contested the elections for the first time. Out of a total of 48 wards, DMK has won 38, AIADMK 3, Independents 3, Congress 2, Marxist Communist 1 and Indian Union Muslim League 1 seats.
In Thanjavur district, the DMK alliance has won the Pattukottai and Adirampattinam municipalities with a majority. The DMK has won a majority in 17 of the 20 municipalities in the district.
In 15 wards in Aaduthurai municipality, DMK has won 4, BJP 4, Independents 5 and AIADMK 2 seats. Out of a total of 15 wards in Swamimalai municipality, DMK has won 6, AIADMK 6, Congress 1 and Independents 2 seats.
The municipality captured by Ammuga
Out of a total of 15 wards in Orattanadu municipality, AIADMK candidates have won 9 seats and captured the municipality. DMK 3, AIADMK have won 3 seats.
AIADMK Deputy Coordinator R. Waithilingam is the MLA in Orathanadu constituency. The AIADMK had regained control of the DMK in the last assembly elections. However, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has taken over the administration of the constituency. Not only this, Ammuga has won in Thanjavur Corporation wards and wards including Thirukattupalli municipality.
Competed on behalf of AIADMK Husband, wife win
In Thiruvarur district, the DMK alliance has won with a simple majority in 4 municipalities namely Thiruvarur, Mannargudi, Thiruthuraipoondi, Koothanallur, Valangaiman, Needamangalam, Peralam, Nannilam, Kudavasal, Koradacheri and Muthupettai.
In particular, AIADMK Kaliyaperumal has won in the 1st ward of Thiruvarur municipality. In the second ward his wife has won the alder. Kaliyaperumal is the District Secretary of the AIADMK. Out of a total of 30 wards in Thiruvarur municipality, DMK has won 23, AIADMK 3, Mama 2, Congress 1 and Independent 1.

Nagapattinam district has 2 municipalities and 4 municipalities. In this, DMK has captured Nagapattinam and Vedaranyam municipalities. The DMK has taken over the municipalities of Kizhvelur and Velankanni. The AIADMK has won a majority in the TNA on Sunday.
Out of a total of 15 wards in Tittacherry municipality, 9 independents have won and taken over the municipality. DMK 5, AIADMK 1 have also won.
The independent candidates who won in the Tittacherry municipality were from the DMK. As the party was denied the opportunity to compete, 13 independents rallied. They were expelled from the party. 9 of them have won and captured the municipality.

The newly formed Mayiladuthurai district has 2 municipalities and 4 municipalities. In this, the DMK has captured the Mayiladuthurai municipality with a majority.
DMK has won 10 out of 24 wards in Sirkazhi municipality. The Independents have won 6 seats. The DMK plans to take over the municipality with the support of independents.
The DMK has won and captured most of the four municipalities of Tharangambadi, Kuthalam, Manalmedu and Vaitheeswaran Koil.
Candidates who did not even get a single vote
In the Pudukkottai district, the DMK has captured the Pudukottai and Aranthangi municipalities with a simple majority. The DMK has won a majority in 7 municipalities namely Iluppur, Ponnamaravathi, Alangudi, Karambakudi, Keeramangalam and Keeranur. Who will rule between DMK and AIADMK in Annavasal municipality? Has become questionable.
Pudukkottai District Karambakudy Municipal Council 7th Ward Independent candidate Prithiviraja has won with 175 votes. DMK. Candidate Farooq came in second with 149 votes.
AIADMK candidate Ibrahim Shah and Marxist-Leninist candidate Dharmaraj, who contested in this ward, did not get a single vote. Naam Tamil Peer Mohammad has got 4 votes.
Parvez, who contested on behalf of the Vijay People’s Movement in the 4th Ward of Pudukkottai Municipality, won by a margin of 282 votes.
The entire Karur district is under the control of the DMK
In Karur district, Karur has won 42 out of 48 wards, AIADMK 2, Independent 2, Congress 1 and Marxist Communist 1 seats. The DMK has won the mayoral post in the first election for the Karur corporation. In addition, the DMK has captured the three municipalities of Kulithalai, Pallappatti and Pukhur with a simple majority.
The DMK has captured 8 municipalities in Karur district. BJP candidate Gopinath has won by a margin of one vote in the 3rd ward of the old Jayankondam municipality. The BJP candidate got 174 votes. The DMK candidate got 173 votes. In this ward, AIADMK and AIADMK candidates got 5 votes each.
In Ariyalur DMK committed with the support of independents
In the Perambalur district, the DMK has won the Perambalur municipality and the four municipalities of Kurumbalur, Arumbavoor, Poolambadi and Lebbaikudikkadu with a simple majority.
Ariyalur district has 2 municipalities and 2 municipalities. In this, DMK has captured Jayangakondam municipality. DMK has taken over Udayarpalayam and Varatharajampet municipalities.
In Ariyalur municipality, DMK has won 7, AIADMK 7 and Independents 4 seats. The four winning independents and the backwards have met Welfare Minister Sivasankara and expressed support for the DMK. Following this, the Ariyalur municipality has also been confirmed by the DMK.
DMK Amoga harvest again in Delta
The DMK alliance won 37 seats in last year’s election out of a total of 41 assembly constituencies in the Central region, which includes Delta. The DMK captured all the 9 constituencies in Trichy district. Only 4 former AIADMK ministers like Orathanadu Vaithilingam, Viralimalai Vijayabaskar, Vedaranyam OS Maniyan and Nannilam Kamaraj won.
In the previous rural local elections, the DMK had won 14 unions in the Trichy district, all of them as district panchayat chiefs. In other districts too, the DMK alliance has won a majority.
In this context, the DMK and its allies have won a majority of seats in the Delta districts in the urban local elections and reaped a bountiful harvest. DMK has taken over 4 corporations in the region. The DMK has won all but one of the municipalities.
