The Ministry of Water Resources confirmed, on Friday, that the Mosul Dam is safe, stable and operating normally, while indicating that the grouting work on the dam’s foundations is continuing without interruption.
Director General of the General Authority for Dams and Reservoirs Ali Radhi Thamer said in a statement received by the (INA): “Based on the directives of the Minister of Water Resources, Aoun Diab Abdullah, a field tour was conducted in the Mosul Dam Project Administration in Nineveh Governorate, during which we met the staff working in the grouting works in the presence of the member of the House of Representatives for Nineveh Governorate, Latif Mustafa Al-Warshaan, and a number of security leaders there; to listen to the obstacles and problems of the work and find appropriate solutions for them.”
He added, “During the meeting, the situation in the Mosul Dam project was discussed, and the field investigation into the truth of the rumors circulated by some social media outlets about the suspension of grouting work in the dam was conducted, and the faults that led to the spread of such news were diagnosed,” stressing that “the entitlements of the cadres working in the dam are fully preserved and are of interest to the highest levels in the Iraqi state, and no effort has been spared to improve the living conditions and increase the financial entitlements of the cadres working in the project, and that the rumors circulated by some satellite channels and social media sites contain major fallacies aimed by some of those who spread these rumors to create confusion among the cadres working in the Mosul Dam after the great success of our national cadres in making the Mosul Dam in the safest condition, and it currently stores the highest level of water that has not been achieved in many years.”
He explained that “any incitement, promotion of rumors, or illegal actions in such a strategic project is considered a threat to the country’s national security, as the dam serves Iraq, and the dam’s condition is safe, stable, and operating normally,” stressing that “the grouting work in the dam did not stop despite the sit-in of some employees and workers for a limited number of hours, which ended and they returned to their work normally.”
