A huge “why” looms around the murder of the 54-year-old surveyor Panagiotis Stathis which happened early in the morning in Neo Psychiko, under his office.
Panagiotis Stathis had held several jobs in Mykonos, had made a very good name, but did not appear to be involved in questionable activities and had no criminal record. He has done surveying for major projects on the island as he has been active there since 2000. He lived in Chaladri and was married with two children, a girl who will take the Panhellenic exams next year and a boy who is a student and studies surveying in . the Athens. He went to Mykonos only for work. He and his partner shared the work in the Psychiko office. Panagiotis Stathis did the outdoor survey and his partner did the office work.
“I don’t believe Panagiotis hurt anyone” tells his close friend protothema.gr. “My mind can’t take it” he adds.
“The man was surveying, he was working as a dog, I don’t understand why they killed him. He was never busy. Topographically he did. It doesn’t make sense what happened.”
According to information, he was also involved in the spatial planning of Mykonos in 2005 and was the best contractor on the island. He is said to have bought land in Ios, as well as Mykonos, and built villas in collaboration with other contractors. He had also taken up a project from a well-known real estate businessman.
They gassed him with more than 10 bullets
It is recalled that he was the unfortunate man who was executed with more than ten bullets according to an audio document.
