The export of Bulgarian agricultural goods to the Turkish market recorded a growth of 46.4 percent on an annual basis. In 2023, the exchange of agricultural goods between the two countries will amount to 905.5 million US dollars. This became known during a meeting of the Acting Minister of Agriculture and Food, Dr. Georgi Tahov, with the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry of the Republic of Turkey, Ibrahim Yumakl, which took place in Ankara. Minister Takhov is visiting at the invitation of his colleague, the relevant department announced.
The two discussed the deepening of bilateral relations in the field of agriculture and the cooperation of the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA) with the veterinary authorities of Turkey. Minister Tahov pointed out that our country expects approval procedures for the export of large ruminant animals for breeding and poultry meat to Turkey to be accelerated.
The two ministers agreed that the 14th meeting of the Management Committee for Agriculture between the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Bulgaria and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Turkey will be held in Ankara this year. The last meeting of the Committee was held in 2017. “I highly value the cooperation with your Ministry and I am convinced that it will continue to develop and deepen in the future,” noted Minister Takhov.
