A third of the Tour de France has passed. After each time trial on Friday, Saturday’s stage is thirty long. Runners will cover 183.4 km between Semur-en-Auxois (Côte-d’Or) and Colombey-les-Deux-Églises (Haute-Marne).
If the good height difference – of 2400 m – is greater than those of the routes taken in recent days, the level will not be played at high altitude. The biggest division of the day is just after km 38. This is the coast of Verrey-sous-Salmaise, category 3 and 2.9 km long. On this portion, the grade is 6%.
If director Christian Prudhomme agrees that “high records will stand” on the stage, he mentions “infinite slopes up and down which will probably weigh on the legs”. The runners will finish their race with the last three kilometers on a false flat rise. The arrival was then planned at Colombey-les-Deux-Églises, General de Gaulle’s second residence.
