This morning, a member of the security detail of the director of the Department of Social Prosperity, Laura Sarabia, was injured during an attempted robbery.
The official received a bullet impact in one of his armsbut fortunately he is out of danger, according to Sarabia.
Initial reports indicate that criminals on motorcycles intercepted the security team’s vehicle, threatening the driver with a firearm.In response, the officer drew his service weapon, which triggered an exchange of gunfire in which he was injured. This incident took place in the El Laurel neighborhood of the Engativá locality, in the northwest of Bogotá, around 5:30 in the morning.

One of the preliminary hypotheses suggests that the criminals tried to steal one of the vans assigned to the escort corps, which led to the confrontation. However, the authorities are still investigating the exact causes of the incident.
The injured officer was immediately transferred to a medical center, where he is receiving the necessary medical attention. The National Protection Unit confirmed that his condition is out of danger and detailed the events that occurred: «UNP escort out of danger. A protection person was injured this morning (5:10 am) in an attempted robbery, when he was traveling on foot to begin his work.
