Ten presidents of football associations will be at the side of the new EPO president, Makis Gagatsis, after the EPO elections as members of the new Executive Committee that will be formed.
Normally there should be nine but since the Referees Union was not approved in the recent general assembly of the Federation, its position will be filled by the president of another Union.
The Peloponnese will be represented by Panagiotis Karras (Lakonia), Vassilis Sideris (Argolidas) and Viki Dimitrakolopoulou-Koulouris (Ilias), because the statute stipulates that the new Executive Committee will have a female person.
From island Greece there is only Nikos Tzorgzoglou (Heraklion). From Western Greece, Kostas Vrakas (Epirou). From the central Dimitris Boulchariotis (Larissa).
The rest are from northern Greece. The reason for Asterios Tokas (Pieria), Stavros Sarigiannidis (Halkidiki), Giorgos Chatzisaroglou (Drama), Demosthenes Kouptsidis (Grevenon) and Pantelis Hatzimarinakis (Evrou). Three will be the representatives of Super League 1, the positions K. Kyriakos (PAOK), K. Karapapas or P. Agrafiotis (Olympiakos) and Ah. Beos (Volos).
Vangelis Marinakis and Petros Martsoukos automatically occupy a position because they are presidents in Super League 1 and 2, respectively.
The current 1st vice-president of EPO and president of EPS Pella, Asterios Antoniou, has also submitted a candidacy, but he may be rejected because he has reached the age of 70 and there is a legal age limit for being “elected” to sports federations.
The “orphan” Unions
Only nine are the so-called “orphan” Unions of the EPO. That is, those who despite the precipitation and dissolution of the “AEK faction” did not change sides. Either because they didn’t want them, or because they didn’t want them…
These are the EPs of Achaia, Aitoloakarnania, Messinia, Dodecanese, Karditsa, Fthiotida, Zakynthos, West Attica and East Attica.
The presidents of these Associations know that after the departure of Melissanidis, AEK will not be as strong again and that for the next few years in the EPO and in the area of the EPS, the “big player” will be PAOK, while in the “game” it will be and Olympiacos.
Their options will be either to join some “carriage”, or to remain isolated and in the opposition, as was the case for many years, for example, the EPS of Ilias.
