Tesla factories will soon be equipped with several thousand humanoid Optimus robots. As reported by Day.Az, this was reported by TASS, citing a statement by the head of the automobile company Elon Musk, which he made at the annual meeting of shareholders in Austin, Texas. According to Musk, already next year more than a thousand, and possibly several thousand Optimus robots will work at Tesla factories.
Musk expressed confidence that the level of autonomy of humanoid robots could be greatly improved by allowing them to learn new skills by watching videos, just as humans do. He also noted that the next-generation Optimus robots would only need to be given a verbal instruction or see a demonstration of an action to perform similar tasks.
The Optimus robot was first unveiled by Musk in August 2021. According to the initial design, it was supposed to be as tall as a person, have the ability to lift loads of about 20 kg, and help people with everyday tasks. In October 2022, Musk showed off the first prototype of Optimus, which walked on stage and waved to the audience, and showed a video of the robot watering flowers.
At the last shareholder meeting, Musk promised that his robots would soon be able to play the piano.
