In 1979, Julie Jurištová and Katrin Martin thrilled audiences as “Snow White and Rose Red”. The latter is still active as an actress 45 years after the fairy tale.
Six years after “Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella”, DEFA produced another fairy tale classic that is still often included in the programs of the third channels today. “Snow White and Rose Red” premiered on July 6, 1979.
Exactly 45 years ago today, the film, which is based on the Brothers Grimm fairy tale of the same name, was released in cinemas. Pavel Trávníček once again took on the role of the prince. Six years earlier, he had already played the prince in “Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella”.
In “Snow White and Rose Red”, however, two sisters are in the foreground. The two were played by Julie Jurištová (Snow White) and Katrin Martin (Rose Red). The latter was 29 years old at the premiere of the film, her screen sister six years younger.
45 years have passed since then. Next February, Katrin Martin will be celebrating her 75th birthday. The actress is still asked about her previous role. She can understand it because “Snow White and Rose Red” is still shown on TV, Katrin Martin explained last year in an interview with “Märchenfilm”.
She no longer has any contact with her former colleagues. “I never saw Julie again, and Pavel only now after so many years. And I never saw Bodo Wolf again either,” says the actress. In the video you can see what Katrin Martin looks like today.
After the fairy tale film, she continued her career as an actress. For example, she appeared in the 1991 film “Youth Without God”, followed a year later by “Stilles Land”. She also appeared in the popular crime series “Polizeiruf”.
Katrin Martin is currently active primarily at the Berlin Crime Theater. There she is on stage in the play “A Murder is Announced”, a crime novel by Agatha Christie. She also appears in “The Mousetrap”, “Passenger 23” and “The Twelve Angry Men”. Julie Jurištová, on the other hand, is no longer active as an actress.
