Live ticket to the election in Great Britain: Starmer appoints the government

by time news

The “Wall Street Journal” writes about the electoral victory of the British Labor Party after 14 years of conservative governments and the new era that is now expected in Great Britain:

“Thursday’s victory was possible because (Labour leader Keir) Starmer convinced voters that Labor was once again a credible and patriotic government party. (…) This government’s credibility is important because the Conservative Party has lost it so much in 14 years in power. In that period, the party has had five prime ministers and even more philosophies. (…)

Starmer is running a deliberately bland and vague campaign, and no one knows how he will reconcile demands for economic growth with the socialist ravings of the left.

Labour’s other issue relates to foreign policy. Labor has always stood up for Ukraine and Starmer has personally supported Israel in its defensive war against Hamas, despite criticism from some Labor circles. However, the election campaign has exposed persistent anti-Semitism on the left and it will soon be important to isolate these voices.”
