Around ten years ago, Marianne Rosenberg took a seat on the DSDS jury. Today, the pop singer looks back on this time critically.
On July 4, pop star Marianne Rosenberg was a guest on Ina Müller’s show and spoke on “Inas Nacht” about her long and successful career as a musician. She specifically spoke about a certain time: around ten years ago, the now 69-year-old sat on the jury of “Deutschland sucht den Superstar” alongside pop titan Dieter Bohlen. However, she does not only have positive memories of this episode in her life.
“Bohlen didn’t talk me into it, RTL bribed me. They paid very well,” says the singer, sounding critical: “RTL said they wanted to change the format. They knew that I said: ‘DSDS is a human exploitation machine.’ So they knew I was an enemy. What does capitalism do in this case? It bribes the enemy and brings him into its own ranks.” Marianne Rosenberg suspects that the production hoped that it would be more serious if she sat on the jury.
At the time, she had false hopes for the casting show, Marianne Rosenberg remembers. “I got carried away, naive as I am. I really tried and cared about these talents. I really thought that there were young people there who really had something to offer,” says Rosenberg. She only realized later that nobody there was actually interested in the people themselves. “I was naive, I have to say.”
Marianne Rosenberg started her musical career at the age of 14 after winning a talent competition. A few years later she had her breakthrough and made music history with songs such as “Er gehört zu mir”, “Ich bin wie du” and “Lieder der Nacht”. To this day she is one of the most successful musicians of the 1970s.
