Parliamentary relations between Ecuador and Japan represent a fundamental pillar in the consolidation of a bilateral bond. From there, the Interparliamentary Friendship Group between the National Assembly of Ecuador and the House of Representatives of Japan, received the visit of the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Japan in Ecuador, Keiichiro Morishita, with the objective of reviewing the activities, goals and results.

Ecuador and Japan have developed a strong and productive diplomatic relationship, based on effective dialogue and technical and scientific cooperation. Parliamentary relations between both countries allow legislators to share experiences, debate public policies and create joint strategies to face common challenges such as climate change, gender equality and technological innovation. This parliamentary exchange facilitates the understanding of each nation’s priorities and contributes to the creation of agreements and projects that are beneficial to both societies.

In this context, the importance of parliamentary relations between Ecuador and Japan lies not only in the tangible benefits that derive from this collaboration, but also in strengthening respect and mutual understanding between two rich and diverse cultures, which seek, through dialogue and cooperation, a future of shared prosperity.

At this meeting, the activities, goals and results proposed in the Biannual Work Plan of the Interparliamentary Friendship Group were reviewed and dates were set for their implementation.

In his speech, Morishita pointed out that relations between Ecuador and Japan have a history of more than 100 years and that it is necessary to continue working to strengthen them.

The president of the Interparliamentary Group, Arisdely Parrales, announced the activities and goals that the Assembly and the House of Representatives of Japan must fulfill.

During this visit, an agenda based on trade, investment and innovation was built. In addition, the meeting had the purpose of beginning to make approaches with the Japanese parliament, meet the teams of the parliamentary groups and approve an agenda of activities, with emphasis on trade and security.
