The name sounds irritating: Ogun Blind Radio Play Prize. This prestigious award has been presented for 75 years. Now it is modern.
The traditional war blind radio drama award will be suspended for one year and renewed. The Film and Media Foundation NRW and the German War and Visual Impairment Association as sponsors have announced that the prize will not be awarded again until 2025. Until it is awarded again, the prize will be “further developed with a broad focus in sector,” he said in a statement.
The new managing director of the Film and Media Foundation, Walid Nakschbandi, said he wants to spend the first year of his time in office to “restart this important game and make it bigger.” The audio section is not limited to classic radio plays. The War Blind Game Award must be moved with the seasons.
Each year, the award honors an original radio play that makes extraordinary use of the possibilities of the art form. The prize is awarded with 5,000 euros. The award was founded in 1950 by the Association of the War Blind.
The 72nd War Blindness Radio Award 2023 went to the radio piece “Ent Grenzgänger II” by Robert Schoen. The article was created in the Russian city of Cherkessk in the conflict region of the North Caucasus. The director has left the site until now.
