Recently, Air Vice Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan has been promoted as Air Marshal and given the responsibility of Air Force Chief. The Ministry of Defense has issued a notification giving this responsibility to Hasan Mahmud Khan for three years from June 11.
Hasan Mahmud Khan is replacing Air Marshal Sheikh Abdul Hannan as the Chief of Air Force. Air Marshal Sheikh Abdul Hannan is retiring on June 11.
Commissioned in the GD (P) Wing of the Bangladesh Air Force on 15 June 1986, Hasan Mahmud Khan served in various commands, staffs and instructors of the Air Force during his career.
He served as Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Planning) and Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Operations) before assuming command of the force.
He was also Director, Chief Inspector, Air Operations Directorate, Intelligence Directorate and Planning Directorate of Biman Sadar, Deputy Commandant and Chief Instructor of Air Force Academy, Deputy Commandant of Defense Services Command and Staff College, Mirpur.
Before that Hasan Mahmud Khan served as the captain of 8 Squadron, Training Wing, Air Force Base Bangabandhu Flying Wing. Air Force Base Zahurul Haque, Cox’s Bazar and Bangabandhu Air Force Base has also handled the responsibility of Air Captain.
Hasan Mahmood Khan has been awarded ‘Air Force Medal’, ‘Gourbojjbal Uddayan Padak’ ‘Distinguished Service Medal’ and three times Air Force Chief’s Certificate in recognition of his skills and role in professional life.
Hasan Mahmud Khan was born on June 20, 1966 in Dhaka. He attended Notre Dame before joining the Air Force. Later he did higher degrees from Defense Services Command and Staff College, Mirpur and National Defense University of Pakistan.
Air Vice Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan and his wife Saleha Khan are parents to a daughter and a son.
