/ The Iraqi Football Association denied the news circulating in some media outlets about the Asian Federation banning the Iraqi national team player, Amjad Atwan, from representing the national team for life.
The Federation clarified in a statement received by Agency, that “this news is incorrect and has no basis in reality,” noting that “it is necessary to deal objectively and credibly with news related to the national team, to keep it from entering into problems that do not serve its upcoming journey in the Asian qualifiers for the World Cup.”
The Federation called on all media outlets to be accurate in transmitting news and obtain it from its main sources, so that the relationship between all parties is built on solid foundations, while providing full support to the national team in the Asian qualifiers for the World Cup finals, in which our team is leading its group with merit and worthiness.
He added that he “will resort to legal means against anyone who publishes and promotes misleading news that contributes to confusing the atmosphere in the national team and about the federation, as our goal is to prepare the appropriate ground for our team to achieve the set goals, foremost of which is reaching the World Cup.”
A source in the Iraqi Football Association revealed today, Wednesday, that the Asian Federation has banned player Amjad Atwan from representing the Iraqi national team for life after discovering that his passport was forged.
