A gift for each participant and many prizes in the competitions announced the West Park today

More than 350 future sports talents stood today at the start of the competitions from the first edition of the Sofia Bicycle Show. The celebration initiated by “Sofia – European Capital of Sports” and “Dolcini Pro Team” included competitions in 4 age groups, contests and fun games, raffles with prizes. The event was followed by thousands who chose Sunday morning for a walk and activities in the renewed West Park.

The cyclists started on a completely safe and age-appropriate route, doing one, two, three or four tours according to the age group. Just like in the elite cyclists’ trials, each participant received a start pack with a start number, a bonus piece of cycling equipment and a commemorative certificate. The competitions were held in strict compliance with the Regulations – with a pilot professional cyclist, numerous commissioners monitoring the safety and fair play along the route and – of course – with the awarding of the yellow jersey to the winner.

The large number of entries with the free registration necessitated the addition of another age group and the organization of qualifiers before the final races. The prize-winners received medals and many subject prizes, and the youngest participant was awarded to Simona Petrunova. The attractive presenter Petrana Petrova contributed to the excellent mood and the many smiles on the faces, who warmed up competitors and their accompanying relatives before the important starts.

The prize winners were congratulated and awarded by Hristo Koparanov – municipal councilor and member of the Management Board of the “Sofia – European Capital of Sports” Foundation, Lubomir Venkov – manager of “Dolcini”, Damyan Dikov – executive director of “Sofia – European Capital of Sports” and Nikolay Stoilov – sports director of the event.

“Children love to play sports and we should provide them with more opportunities for an active and healthy life. Cycling and running are among the most accessible, let’s wish to see more and more people doing sports in this park,” Koparanov said at the closing of the celebration. At the end, the organizers thanked the parents for registering and bringing their children to participate and they have since been invited to the next edition of the Sofia Bike Show next summer.
