The power outage was caused by a fault in a 10 kilovolt (kV) cable line.

LETA has already reported that on Friday afternoon, the electricity supply to approximately 2,100 customers of “Sadales netas” in Riga was interrupted. At 1:29 p.m., a technological disturbance was registered in the medium voltage electrical network.

It has already been reported that “Sadales tīkls” worked with an audited turnover of 343.332 million euros in 2023, which is 14% more than the year before, and the company also made a profit of 16.906 million euros, as opposed to losses a year earlier.

“Sadales tīkls” is an electricity network maintainer and developer in Latvia, part of the state-owned “Latvenergo” concern. The company provides operation, renovation and planned development of distribution networks, supervision of electricity use, loss reduction measures and electricity accounting, as well as creates new connections.
