Gas supplies from Azerbaijan to Italy are projected to amount to 9.6 billion cubic meters in 2024.

As reported by Day.Az on Tuesday with reference to the information from the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan, this was stated by the Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov at a meeting on July 2 in Milan with the Minister of Environment and Energy Security of Italy Gilberto Pichetto-Fratina.

The parties discussed issues of cooperation in the energy sector, as well as within the framework of the upcoming 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) in November.

In addition, cooperation was discussed with the Italian company Ansaldo Energia, which supplies equipment and plans to deliver a turnkey power plant with a capacity of 1,280 MW in Mingachevir (on the territory of the old TPP “Azerbaijan”) in Azerbaijan.

Ansaldo Energia also plans to build substations in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan.

“The Italian side also expressed interest in the supply of “green” energy from Azerbaijan through the “Caspian-Black Sea-Europe green energy corridor.” In addition, the parties discussed priorities under Italy’s presidency of the G7,” the press release noted.
