At the Xbox Games Showcase 2024 presentation, three new models of the Xbox Series X and S were presented, but the full-fledged portable Xbox console, which insiders often talked about, was ignored. After the event, IGN editor Ryan McCaffrey asked the head of Microsoft Gaming Phil Spencer about the development of such a device. A video of the meeting with Phil Spencer was posted on IGN, where the publisher noted that “he almost confirmed a portable Xbox console.” Despite the lack of official statements, Spencer’s behavior and words suggest that Microsoft is indeed planning to enter the portable console market.
