Tangier: Awards ceremony for winners of the “Tech Talents” competition for innovative startups in the environmental field

During this ceremony, held on the sidelines of the 2nd edition of the Environment and Sustainable Development Day, under the theme “Restoration Generation, the generation that can make peace with the earth”, the 5 finalists presented their final pitch in front of a jury composed of experts in the field of the environment and sustainable development, before announcing the names of the three winners of this innovation competition.

The first prize of the competition was awarded to Saleh Tasnim for his project “T-H2-O2”, which aims to produce green hydrogen and medical oxygen based on photovoltaic solar energy, while the 2nd prize went to El Mahdi Benabdeljalil, for his project “Agua de Sol”, which offers an alternative and sustainable solution to millions of people who do not have access to tap water, through the design of panels transforming air into water using the sun.

The 3rd Prize was won by Abdelaziz Bouchaib for his project “ASM Eco Matériaux”, which aims to use plastic and construction waste to produce materials that can be used in the fields of construction and carpentry.

In a statement to MAP, the president of the CDD of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, Kaoutar Bennis, stressed that this competition aims to reward innovative projects in the field of sustainable development environment that have a strong social and environmental impact, specifying that the winners will benefit from the support of the CDD, in order to succeed in their projects.

For her part, the representative of the CDD Business Circle in Tangier, Marie Perez, noted that this competition honors innovative startups in the environmental field, stating that out of the 12 projects presented during the first selection phase, 5 were selected.

She said that among the criteria taken into account by the jury for the selection of projects are innovation, environmental and social impact, technical feasibility, market potential, financial viability and sustainable approach, noting that the winners will benefit from adapted support, in order to enable them to develop their projects.

This ceremony was also marked by the signing of a strategic partnership agreement between the CDD and the Moroccan Organization of Tourist Transport (OMTT), for the development of tourist transport.

This agreement, initialed by the president of the CDD, Driss Drif and the president of the OMTT, Chami Mounir, aims to define the terms of strategic partnership between the two institutions, with a view to the organization, promotion and development of the Morocco Tourist Transport Show (STTM), as well as to promote networking and exchanges between professionals in the sector.

This unprecedented event, organized under the aegis of the Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, was an opportunity to celebrate both World Environment Day and to contribute to Morocco’s collective effort in implementing the sustainable development model dictated by the strategic orientations of HM King Mohammed VI and the Kingdom’s international commitments.

It was punctuated by three panels under the themes “Blue economy and inclusive sustainable development”, “Action for water in the service of our common future” and “Conservation and restoration of soils”.
