The Hungarian leader called this unannounced visit “Peace Mission 3.0”.

In a brief statement earlier, China’s Foreign Ministry said the Hungarian leader would meet with Xi to “discuss issues of mutual interest in depth.”

In May this year, Xi visited Hungary to conclude his visit to Europe, during which he also visited France and Serbia.

After meeting with Orban, Xi said Beijing attaches “great importance” to relations with the EU.

Despite its small size, the central European country of 9.6 million people has attracted a large influx of Chinese projects in recent years, mainly related to the production of batteries and electric vehicles.

The Hungarian government is proud that China is implementing projects worth about 15 billion euros.

Since returning to power in 2010, Orban has defended the foreign policy of “Opening the East”, trying to build closer economic ties with China, Russia and other Asian countries.
