For many people, that sounds like work: In factory building strategy games you have to build production facilities, get electricity and establish efficient logistics chains – a demanding and exciting game principle. The ancestor of this genre, “Factorio”, is getting its first expansion. The “Satisfactory” 3D option, on the other hand, is about to release the “complete” 1.0 version after years of early access.

“Factorio” was also in early access for years before the release of the “final” version in 2020. Since then, the game has been continuously developed. With the “Space Age” DLC, Factorio is expanding its scope significantly. With a price of 35 US dollars, the expansion costs exactly the same as the main game, which is available in Germany for 32 euros and is not usually put on sale.
“Space Age” allows Factorio players to colonize new planets, where, among other things, they must be released and exploited. There will be a total of five such new planets that will offer individual challenges to players. On Vulcanus players have to deal with sulfur and ash, on Gleba they have to build in the middle of the stream. There are also new production chains and, for the first time, quality levels for the goods produced.
The “Space Age” DLC for “Factorio” will be released on October 21st. The DLC comes with a free patch for all “Factorio” players, which includes, among other things, improvements to moves and a revised fluid system.
“Satisfactory” in Version 1.0
“Satisfactory” translates the “Factorio” gameplay into a 3D environment. With the release of its version 1.0, “Satisfactory” comes a month before its 2D competitor: The “finished” version of the game will be released on September 10, the development studio Coffee Stain has now announced.
The trailer promises a funny ad for flushable toilets. Otherwise, Coffee Stain is still working on the recipes for some items for the 1.0 release. No major new content has been announced yet for the version 1.0 release. Over the past few months, the team has been busy mainly fine-tuning and improving performance.
Whether and how “Satisfactory” will continue after the release of 1.0 remains to be seen. However, Coffee Stain will probably continue to work on “Satisfactory”. The game regularly costs 30 euros and can currently be purchased on Steam for 15 euros.
