New Delhi: Investors have warmly welcomed the IPO of Pune-based pharmaceutical company Emcure Pharmaceuticals. The issue of this company, invested by Shark Tank fame Namita Thapar, has received 67.87 times subscription. This is going to hit the jackpot for the company’s executive director Namita Thapar. She will earn around Rs 127 crore through this IPO. Thapar had bought shares of Emcure at an average price of Rs 3.44 per share. She will sell around 12.68 lakh shares under OFS in this IPO. Considering the upper price band of Rs 1,008, she will get around Rs 127 crore from this stake sale. As of March 2024, Thapar owns around 63 lakh shares or 3.5% stake in the company. A look at Namita Thapar’s career… Namita Thapar, the executive director of Pune-based company Emcure Pharma, is not only a well-known name in the pharma industry but she is also one of the richest judges of Shark Tank India. Namita has been a part of three seasons of this show. According to media reports, her net worth is around Rs 600 crore. She has many luxurious houses and a fleet of luxury cars. Emcure Pharma was founded by Namita Thapar’s father Satish Mehta. Namita did her schooling in Pune and then she obtained a Chartered Accountant degree from ICAI. After this, Namita obtained an MBA degree from America. There she worked as a business finance head in a medical device company Guidant Corporation.

After working in the US for six years, she returned to India in 2007 and joined Emcure Pharma as CFO. Later she was made the executive director of the company. She has invested around Rs 10 crore in 25 companies in the show. These include Bummer, Altor, InACan and Wakao Foods. Namita Thapar is married to Vikas Thapar who works in Emcure.
Namita Thapar is known for her luxurious life. According to media reports, the value of her bungalow in Pune is around Rs 50 crore. She also has a collection of many luxury cars. These include a BMW X7 worth Rs 2 crore, a Mercedes-Benz GLE and an Audi Q7. Amit Jain, a fellow judge of Shark Tank India, once told that Namita Thapar wears shoes worth Rs 20 lakh.
