Iraq basketball team meets Saudi Arabia in Baghdad and Palestine in Jordan in Asian qualifiers

/ The Asian Basketball Federation announced the schedule of matches for the first window of the Asian double qualifiers for basketball.

The head of the Iraqi Federation, Hussein Al-Ameedi, told Agency, “Our national basketball team will play its first match against the Saudi team in the closed People’s Hall in Baghdad on the 23rd of this month.”

He added, “The Iraqi national team is heading to the Jordanian capital, Amman, to face the Palestinian national team on the 26th of this month, as Jordan will be the supposed home ground for the Palestinian national team.”

He pointed out that “the Federation hopes that the Iraqi team will present a good level in the tournament and qualify for the Asian finals.”

He explained that “the national team is conducting its training in the Sennacherib Hall and the Dohuk Club in Dohuk Governorate, led by professional coach Milan Nesic, before entering the official matches.”

Our national basketball team is participating in the Beirut International Friendly Cup Championship in the Lebanese capital, alongside the teams of Lebanon, Palestine, the Sultanate of Oman, Kuwait and Syria, for the period from the 17th to the 20th of this month. The friendly championship is a preparatory stage for the Iraqi team for the first Asian window.

It is noteworthy that the Iraqi national team entered an internal training camp in Baghdad before heading to Dohuk Governorate to enter a second training camp before entering the upcoming international events.
