INE canine unit recognized

The Mexican Canine Federation recognized three copies of the Canine Unit of the National Electoral Institute (INE), called Dandi, Dayak and Hachi, as Dog of the Year in Work and Service 2023.

This is the third consecutive year that the Federation has recognized the work and labor carried out by the five canine specimens owned by the Institute for the protection and care of workers, as well as its facilities.

The canine handlers of the INE’s Security and Civil Protection Coordination, María del Carmen Durán Manzanilla, Raúl Almaguer Vega and Martín Alejandro Sánchez Flores received the recognition on behalf of their dogs Dayak, Hachi and Dandi, three Belgian Shepherd Malinois breed specimens, specialized in detecting and locating explosive devices.

At the headquarters of the Mexican Canine Federation, another 25 canine units and their specimens received recognition as Dog of the Year in Work and Service 2023, among which were those of the Navy, the National Guard, the Pemex 2018 Strategic Safeguarding Subdirectorate; Prevention and Social Readaptation and the Baja California State Citizen Security Force.

Likewise, those of the CUSEM Group of the State of Mexico Security Secretariat; the Banking and Industrial Police of Mexico City; the Military Police Training Center; the Undersecretariat of the Penitentiary System and the Military Police, among others.

These canine units stood out for their social work as therapists or by carrying out rescues, locating substances and narcotics, searching, locating and rescuing human remains or detecting narcotics.
