Beryl toca tierra as strong hurricane of category 2 in Tulum.
After reaching Category 5 and then weakening to Category 3, during the early hours of July 5, “Beryl” made landfall 25 km north-northeast of the popular tourist area of Tulum and 235 km east-southeast of Progreso, Yucatán.
It has maximum sustained winds of 160 km/h, gusts of 190 km/h and is moving west-northeast at 24 km/h.

While the cloud bands of Beryl will cause torrential rains (|150 to 250 mm), electrical discharges, as well as gusts of wind of 150 to 170 km/h, waves of 6 to 8 meters high and possible formation of waterspouts in Quintana Roo.
Following this, Mara Lezama, governor of the state of Quintana Roo, reported that due to the passage of the hurricane, the entire state remains on red alert level.
“All of Quintana Roo remains on red alert, the Maximum Danger phase!”
