Former Minister T. Jayakumar was arrested by the Chennai Police today in another case.

Jayakumar, who has already been arrested in connection with the attack on a DMK executive, will appear in court this morning on bail.

In this context, the Chennai Police have filed a case against Jayakumar and 4 other AIADMK leaders under Section 4 for violating the election code of conduct on the day of the local government elections. He has been arrested in connection with the case.

It is alleged that Naresh Kumar of the DMK had trespassed into the polling booth at Sanjeevirayan Koil Street in the 49th Ward of the Rayapuram constituency during the 19th day of the urban local body elections in Tamil Nadu. Upon learning of this, the AIADMK led by former AIADMK minister T. Jayakumar arrested Naresh, stripped him half naked and handed him over to the police. These scenes spread fast on social media.

Following a complaint lodged by Naresh, the Thandayarpet police registered a case against 40 persons, including Jayakumar, under various sections, including threatening to kill, assault and inciting riot, and arrested Jayakumar.
