Morocco: a trade surplus of 2.5 billion dirhams with France in 2022 (Office des Changes)

This surplus is down by 9.2 billion dirhams compared to a year earlier, indicates the same source, stressing that Morocco has recorded a trade surplus with France since 2017.

The Foreign Exchange Office also reported that the trade balance remained in deficit with Spain, Morocco’s largest trading partner. The trade deficit thus widened from 7.8 billion dirhams to 19.9 billion dirhams in 2022.

Furthermore, the report specifies that trade with China has generated a worsening trade deficit since 2011. This deficit reached 70.6 billion dirhams in 2022 compared to 58.7 billion dirhams in 2021 and 21.7 billion dirhams in 2011.

Regarding the trade deficit with the United States, it also widened to 40.4 billion dirhams in 2022.

The trade balance with Saudi Arabia remained in deficit with a deterioration of 31 billion dirhams in 2022 compared to the previous year. The trade deficit amounted to 46.7 billion dirhams.
