The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (MARN) announced the new arrival of the dust phenomenon from the Sahara Desert over the national territory starting next Thursday, July 11.

“A new influx of dust from the Sahara Desert has been observed over national territory; it will be in concentrations of 25 to 50 micrograms per cubic meter (μg/m3) starting next Thursday, July 11, and will continue until next week. The highest concentration is expected at noon on Saturday, July 13,” the Ministry of the Environment stated.

According to MARN, concentrations are low, so no impacts on the population are expected. The rains that have fallen on our territory have helped to clean the atmosphere.

“Recommendations for the general population: Use sun protection if you will be exposed during the hours of greatest sunlight (12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.); Consider wearing a mask; Stay hydrated,” said the Ministry of the Environment.

“Recommendations for sensitive groups: Avoid exposure to the outdoors during the hours of greatest sunlight; Avoid exercising in open spaces,” he added.
