The Olmedo Sports Center achieved a victory in the sixth round of the Chimborazo Second Category Championship. Led by Omar Ledesma from Riobamba, the team won 3-0 against New Sanfra, widely dominated by the Olmedo squad.
The first goal of the match was scored by Jostyn Cerón. Colombian forward Ethan González scored the second goal, after a rebound in the area, González sent it in. Near the end of the match, the third goal came, Adrián Vera took advantage of a collective play and without fail, the third goal was decided and Olmedo’s definitive victory. Before the match, Olmedo and New Sanfra shared position in the table with the same points, so a victory was essential for the “Idol of Riobamba” and thus not get away from the leader. Among the positive news is the return of “Cachi” Baguí, a young player who last season suffered an injury to his tibia and fibula. Ledesma presented an offensive lineup with double reference in the opposing area, with Ethan González and Luis Congo leading the attack. However, Congo suffered discomfort during the first half, which forced his early exit from the match. Despite this setback, the team maintained its structure and managed to secure the three points. This victory marks a resurgence for Olmedo, who had just finished two difficult matches. In the previous rounds, the team lost points after suffering a 1-0 defeat against Darwin de Alausí and a draw with STAR Club. These results led to the end of Juan Cruz’s time as the team’s technical director.
