/ The Iranian national team coach, Amir Ghalenoei, doubted on Tuesday the appointment of an Arab Kuwaiti referee to lead the match, whose other side is an Arab Gulf team, Qatar.

“You should ask the AFC itself that they chose an Arab Kuwaiti referee for a match against another Arab team, Qatar. We expect nothing but justice and fair play. Ask the officials themselves why they made such a decision regarding the Iranian team,” Ghalenoui said during a press conference on the eve of the match against Qatar in the Asian Cup semi-finals scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday, on the subject.

He added, “The criticism directed at the Iranian team was unfair, as we did not play badly and only scored our chances, but the players must be on their day and comfortable in order to play good matches.”

“We had less than 72 hours of rest, and the video assistant referee (VAR) was not good with us in the refereeing decisions, as happened in the match against Japan,” Galinoi continued.
