Thiago was told this summer that he was not allowed to continue playing for Liverpool, after four years at the club. Now he has decided to quit.
The Spaniard leaves behind a highly deserved career, with eleven league titles with Barcelona and Bayern Munich. Unfortunately, injuries have been a major problem throughout most of his career.
Thiago made his Barcelona debut in 2009, after several years at the club’s renowned La Masia academy.
Thiago was seen as the heir apparent to Barcelona stars Xavi and Andres Iniesta, but after four seasons in the Catalans’ first team, he moved on to Bayern Munich, where he reunited with Pep Guardiola.
After seven seasons in Germany, with seven straight league titles, Thiago was ready for Liverpool in the summer of 2020. The midfielder impressed early in his Liverpool career, before injuries plagued the Spaniard again.
