Until today, Mateo has not arrived and joined the team. Persib Management said that he is still taking care of the Limited Permit Card (KITAS).
Persib coach Bojan Hodak revealed his reasons for recruiting Mateo Kocijan. In addition to the departure of Alberto Rodriguez, according to him, Mateo can play in many positions.
“He is a defensive midfielder, he can also play as a stopper. So if for example there is a defender who is injured, he can play in that position,” said Hodak when met after leading a training session at Sidolig Stadium, Bandung City, Sunday (7/7/2024).
Hodak wants a freestyle player who can also be a tandem for Dedi Kusnandar, a defender who Persib has had for a long time.
“Another reason is Dedi (Kusnandar) has no cover because Dedi, the defensive midfielder, is the only one we currently have in the team. So we have to have another player in that position,” he said.
Interim Director of Sports PT Persib Bandung Bermartabat (PBB) Adhitia Putra Herawan added that Mateo Kocijan came on the recommendation of coach Bojan Hodak.
The player born in Koprivnica had previously worked with assistant Hodak before coming to defend the club nicknamed Maung Bandung.
