Yesterday, the Colombian Women’s National Team began its training camp in Barranquilla, in preparation for the third Olympic Games in its history.
Under the direction of coach Angelo Marsiglia, the 18 players selected and the four reserves will meet to face the Olympic challenge.
The trip to Paris is the culmination of an arduous road that began with the runner-up position in the 2022 Women’s Copa AméricaBefore leaving for the “City of Light,” the Colombian team will bid farewell to its fans with a friendly match against Ecuador. Finally, on July 15, they will depart for the most prestigious sporting event in the world.
The Olympic Tournament: Dates and Format
The championship will take place from July 25 to August 10, 2024, with the participation of 12 teams from the five continents.divided into three groups of four teams. The top two teams from each group and the two best third-placed teams will advance to the knockout stage. From there, the quarter-finals, semi-finals, the match for third place and the final will be played.

Qualified Teams:
Group A: Colombia, France, Canada, New Zealand
B Group: United States, Zambia, Germany, Australia
Group C: Spain, Japan, Nigeria, Brazil
Colombia will debut against France on July 25 at the Stade de Lyon. The national team’s next matches will be against New Zealand on July 28 and against Canada on July 31.

Olympic History of the National Team
The Colombian Women’s Team has participated in two previous editions of the Olympic Games: London 2012 and Rio de Janeiro 2016. In Rio 2016, Catalina Usme stood out by being the only Colombian to score in an Olympic tournament, with two goals in a 2-2 draw against the United States.
