The Spanish construction group Aldesa won the Polish bid for the construction of a section of the S17 highway, 16.6 kilometers between Piaski and Lopiennik, for 658 million zlotys (about 153 million euros). Among the dozen rival bids were those from Budimex and Mostostal Warszawa, subsidiaries of Ferrovial and Acciona, respectively.

Months ago, the Directorate General of National Roads and National Roads (GDDKiA) gave the best economic proposal to Intercor of Switzerland, which prompted several complaints and a review of the offers. After this process, Aldesa has been chosen to build one of the sections in which the new S17 is divided.

Other competitors in the competition included Strabag of Austria, Mota Engil of Portugal and PORR of Germany. Aldesa will lead the design and construction of the section that connects the aforementioned S17 to the S12, and three road junctions. In addition, he will install the traffic management system, the drainage infrastructure, the lighting system, and environmental protection and drainage structures.

Poland is one of the strategic markets of the firm controlled by the Chinese giant CRCC. In that market, in July last year, he signed the largest contract in his history: the expansion of the Olefins petrochemical complex for Orlen, for a total of 442 million euros. In terms of road works contracting, Aldesa is present in the construction of the C19, S6 and S7.
