The Minister of Health, Francisco Alabi, reported through an interview that adults may present mild symptoms of dengue, however, this does not mean that it cannot be fatal.
The Minister of Health indicated that all age groups are exposed to dengue; although most of the cases that have occurred are in minors, this does not mean that adults cannot suffer from the disease.
“Most of the cases that we identify as positive (for dengue) are minors. If we do an epidemiological statistical analysis, we realize that this is the group that is seeking medical attention. This does not mean that there are not other groups of the population that are developing the disease, but are not seeking medical attention. It is important that we take into consideration that the disease can occur in all age groups,” said Alabi.
Regarding anti-vectorial actions, President Bukele’s Government does not stop in its objective of protecting Salvadoran families; therefore, teams from the institutions that make up the National Civil Protection System are reaching Salvadoran homes to apply different strategies against dengue, zika and chikungunya.
