This Tuesday, security authorities captured Jonathan de Jesús Romero Zambrano, known by the alias “Parca,” a dangerous gang member belonging to the Mara Salvatrucha (MS). Romero Zambrano is accused of being responsible for a homicide that occurred in 2016.

Alias “Parca” had escaped from the country to Guatemala to evade justice under the Exceptional Regime, however, he has been intercepted and detained at the border of Anguiatú, Santa Ana.

During his arrest, it was discovered that Romero Zambrano had a tattoo of “ERE,” which stands for Retired Ex-Gang Member, a symbol used by the MS so that its members maintain a low profile and appear to have left the gang. He also tried to hide this tattoo with an allusive name.

The detainee has a criminal record for aggravated homicide and has held the position of Homeboy within the gang structure for several years.

Jonathan de Jesús Romero Zambrano is currently in custody and will be prosecuted for the crime of illegal association, as well as for the homicide of which he is accused. Authorities are continuing to investigate other events in which he may be involved.
