Mahutschich breaks the high jump world record in Paris

Two world records were broken at the Diamond League meeting in Paris. Kenya’s Kipyegon took second over 1500 m.

(sda) The Ukrainian Yaroslava Mahuchich in the high jump and the Kenyan Faith Kipyegon in the 1500 m set a world record at the Diamond League meeting in Paris.

The Ukrainian Mahutschich improved Bulgarian Stefka Kostadinova’s 37-year-old record from the 1987 World Championships by one centimeter to 2.10 m. The two-time Olympic champion and mother of a six-year-old daughter set the previous record in Florence just over a year ago.

Mujinga Kambundji failed to achieve any exploit above 100 m. The two-time European champion came fourth over 200 mi in 11.22. Hurler Jason Joseph failed in the introduction in 13.41; The other third place finisher in the European Championships, William Reais, was 6th in the 200m in 20.89.
