Min Hee-jin, CEO of Adore, who was accused of breach of trust by Hybe, the largest music agency in Korea, appeared at the police station on the 9th and denied the charges, saying, “It’s like a comedy.”

At around 10 p.m. that day, Representative Min left the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul and when asked if he was continuing to deny the allegations of dereliction of duty, he responded, “Of course. It’s impossible to dereliction of duty,” and “From my perspective, it’s a comedy.” Representative Min was questioned for about 8 hours starting at around 1:40 p.m. that day.

Representative Min said in the investigation that day, “I told the truth,” and “The investigation that day was not originally scheduled, but I have a hasty personality and have a lot to say, so I asked to be investigated first.” He also said, “I told all the important stories today, and I feel relieved that I told the truth.”

In response to the question of whether he had submitted additional evidence that day or will submit evidence in the future, Representative Min stated, “There is a lot,” and “We have decided to submit it later through our lawyers.” However, regarding the threat of legal action for defamation, etc., he said, “I don’t think we should talk about that (now).” He also held back on communication with Hive, saying, “If I talk more, it will be too long.”

On April 25, HYBE filed a complaint with the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul against CEO Min and vice-president of Adore, the label under its control and the agency of girl group New Jeans, on charges of breach of trust.

At the time, Hive issued a press release stating, “One of the audit targets submitted information assets containing a plan to seize management rights and contact with external investors as evidence during the investigation, and also admitted to having created a document to attack Hive for this purpose.” It continued, “(Among the Adore executives) there were specific discussions on how to terminate the exclusive contract with the artist in the middle, and how to nullify the contract between the Adore CEO and Hive.”

Representative Min held a press conference five hours after Hive’s statement and said, “I have never planned or executed any usurpation of management rights,” and “It is an unprecedented farce that Hive forensically took the KakaoTalk messages between Vice President A and me, extracted some of them, and talked about this and that situation.” He also said, “It is just grumbling that I had while working,” and “It cannot be dereliction of duty.”

Accordingly, on May 31, Hive held a temporary shareholders meeting and attempted to dismiss CEO Min. However, on the 30th of last month, the court ruled that “CEO Min’s actions may be considered betrayal of Hive, but it is difficult to say that they constitute breach of trust toward Adore,” and accepted CEO Min’s application for an injunction to prohibit the exercise of voting rights against Hive. Afterwards, CEO Min expressed his intention to reconcile, saying, “I hope that Newgenes and I will faithfully carry out the plans we have made.” However, Hive is maintaining its position of not withdrawing the charges, saying, “We plan to proceed with follow-up procedures within the boundaries set by the law.”
