The Dr. David J. Guzmán National Museum of Anthropology (MUNA) and the former Presidential House of San Jacinto received a visit from the group Integrando Abuelos, from Suchitoto, and from high school students in Tourism Services from the Suchitoto National Institute (INSU), on July 2.
The joy was reflected on the faces of the visitors, especially the older women like Mrs. Zoila de Figueroa, who said that she had never been to the former Presidential House in her life, even though when she got married in 1967, her husband worked there, so she was happy to see and also visit MUNA.
“What I liked most in the museum was a pot. When we saw it, we said it was a pot for chicha. We didn’t know it was like a box for the dead. We didn’t know that they buried people there, and it’s very nice to know these things,” said Mrs. Figueroa, after visiting the Pre-Hispanic Burial Room at MUNA.
The elderly, from the neighborhoods of La Cruz, El Calvario, Santa Lucía, Colonia Nuevo Suchitoto, and the cantons of San Juan and San José, were helped by the Directorate of Integration and the municipality to make the visit, as were the students.
“We are grateful for this invitation, first because the students are specialized in Tourism Services and they have to learn a lot about our country. The visit has been very beneficial because they learn about their culture, our roots and the history of the country,” said the director of INSU, Dinora Alvarenga.
In total, the two cultural spaces served 74 people within the framework of the World of Art and Entertainment program that the Ministry of Culture develops together with the Directorate of Integration.
