The Standing Committee on Ministry of Labor and Employment of the 12th National Assembly has recommended increasing the duration of factory licenses from one year to five years and taking necessary steps to ensure one-stop service for licenses.

This recommendation was made in the third meeting of the committee at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhawan on Monday (July 8). The meeting was chaired by HM Ibrahim MP and the member of the committee, Minister of State for Labor and Employment Md. Nazrul Islam Chowdhury MP, Shajahan Khan MP, SM Brahani Sultan Mamud MP, Md. Asaduzzaman MP and Md. Abdullah MP.

In today’s meeting, the minutes of the second meeting were approved and confirmed in revised form with amendments and detailed discussion and information was presented about the implementation progress of the decisions taken in the second meeting.

The Committee recommends to expedite the formulation of policies for allocation of housing by undertaking a feasibility study on the establishment of dormitories in important labor intensive areas for Bangladeshi women workers.

The committee agreed in principle on bringing various workers including Uber-Pathao, courier services under the trade union and recommended the ministry to form a committee to implement it.

Secretary of the Ministry of Labor and Employment, Director General of the Directorate of Labor and related senior officials of the Directorate of Institution Inspection, Ministry of Labor and Employment, Bangladesh National Parliament Secretariat were present in the meeting.
